Assistant Principal's Message: Mrs. Summer Hughes
My name is Summer Hughes, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Thomas Paine Elementary. It is with great excitement and a deep sense of nostalgia that I return to this very school, where I was a student 40 years ago. This place holds a special place in my heart, and I feel honored to be back, now in a role where I can give back to the community that shaped me.
For the past 21 years, I have dedicated my career to teaching in the Garden Grove Unified School District. I have had the privilege of teaching in kindergarten through sixth grade, which has given me a broad perspective on the academic and developmental stages of our students. Additionally, I served as an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) coach, where I coordinated support for all students, ensuring that every child received the necessary resources and interventions to thrive academically and socially.
Building a strong, inclusive community where every student feels a sense of belonging is my passion. I believe that when students feel connected and valued, they are more likely to strive for excellence and reach their full potential.
As I step into this new role, I am committed to working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students to continue the tradition of excellence at Thomas Paine Elementary. Together, we can create a vibrant community where every student is inspired to learn, grow, and succeed. I look forward to meeting each of you and embarking on this exciting journey together.
