A Message from the Principal… Mrs. Charise Santana

Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope the Paine families had a wonderful summer and the opportunity to spend family time together.  We are very excited for the return of our Paine Panthers along with our new students.

As mentioned last year, we will continue to focus on implementing practices that align to our District's Strategic Plan: Academic Skills + Personal Skills = Lifelong Success! There will be more information communicated to students and families throughout the school year. I'm thrilled to share that our preliminary SBAC scores for students in 3rd-6th are strong. Results were mailed home to parents by the district office on 7/28. This year we will continue to provide instruction that is rigorous, engaging, and aligned to state standards as part of our Academic Skills Goal 1. In the area of Goal 2, Personal Skills, we will continue to operate under the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) framework , partner with Special Olympics of Southern California to focus on and support inclusive practices, and also continue with activities throughout the school year that align with being a No Place for Hate school ambassador. For Goal 3, Lifelong Success, we will support students with developing scholarly habits and establishing a college or career mindset.

Last year we welcomed a new mental health team, ASPIRE, to support the social emotional well-being of our students and families. I am happy to say they will continue to be a support for our community. As a recap, please refer to the attached flyer to see the positive impact of these services for students.

This year, we will be partnering with other local schools; La Quinta, Irvine, McGarvin, Post, and Murdy for parent education opportunities on the topics of Parenting in the Digital World, Vaping, & Student Mental Health. Keep an eye out for the flyers throughout the year.

Lastly, I would like to welcome the following new staff members:
  • Jennifer Epp, Assistant Principal
  • Karen Doyle, 2nd Teacher
  • Caroline Leyba, 3rd Teacher
  • Trevor Sailors, 5th Teacher
We are looking forward to seeing students and families for another great school year.
